Objective of project
Reality television programs have spilled over to the majority of networks and have dominated consumer viewership. The breadth of these programs are quite wide – they come in the form of cop shows, dramas, and even make-over programs. The genre that's under discussion, make-over shows, are not simply just about making over the home or the office, it is also about redesigning human beings in the reflection of popular culture. While the effects of all reality television programs influence the concept of authenticity, makeover reality shows have more of an influence in society's aspiration of self-fulfillment. The makeover programming allows viewers to think the final product is the right way, subsequently establishing a commodified culture. My objective is to gain an understanding of how makeover reality programming is influenced by popular culture and in turn how it effects the viewership.
